August 3, 2009--Thanks to a grant from Baton Rouge State Fair Foundation, Catholic Charities was able to provide more than1,250 school-aged children in need with school back packs filled with school supplies for the 2009 school year.

Back-to-school expenses for families living in poverty are a huge burden. The families participating in the Catholic Charities and Baton Rouge Fair Foundation Backpack and School Supplies program are all living at or below the poverty level. Through this exciting project, these children will be able to have the supplies they need to begin school prepared to excel.
