Catholic Charities Brings the Community Together for Christmas by Pairing Families Together for the Holidays

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Baton Rouge (CCDBR) is again matching donor families, businesses and organizations with seniors and families in crisis through its Christmas program.

“Our program not only enriches our clients’ lives and Christmases, but donors say it makes their Christmas more meaningful, too,” said Catherine Weidert, CCDBR communications coordinator.

Starting in September, CCDBR screened and verified more than 500 families and clients from the past year for whom Christmas gifts are an expensive burden.

The matching process is automated with donors having the ability to choose recipient families at christmas.ccdiobr.org. Donors may request a family with a specific number of members or even a family with children similar in age.

“With just a few clicks, donors can get started making a happy Christmas for seniors and families whose budgets cannot accommodate even simple gifts,” Weidert said.

Donors are able to shop from clients’ wish lists or provide gift cards.

The deadline to sponsor a family is November 30. Gift delivery dates are December 2 – 6 and December 9. Visit christmas.ccdiobr.org to learn how the program works and to choose your family.

Although the CCDBR list is closed, if you need assistance this Christmas, call 2-1-1 for available resources.
